Master bedroom with windows and door. Gas fireplace will be placed on the wall to the right (set into wall so that rear of unit extends out a little onto the screened porch, but will be boxed) and vents to the outside.
The screened porch, picture taken from the small deck. Sidewalls had to be built a little higher than original plans to conform to code and to be more easily screened.

Picture of small deck under construction, taken from "inside" the screened porch. Fantastic view of the lake!

View of main room from standing in the loft (no railings yet!) Workmen walk the ramp to get to the "center of the ceiling" to work on the upper beams!

View of hallway on the upper level that leads to the bedrooms. Bedrooms are on the right, past the end of the loft. [Greg has suggested that we put a small "window" in the wall of the first bedroom, so that kids can have a "secret" place to look down on the adults below in the great room!!]

The corner bedroom, big enough for two queen beds, or a queen and two singles! Double windows have view to the side, single window looks over the lake.

The other upstairs bedroom, with double windows looking towards the lake. Also big enough for more than one queen bed!

View of middle of main floor, looking from the great room back towards the front door. Edge of railing is across the top of the pictures. Temporary staircase leads to second floor.

View of downstairs from the area at the base of the steps. Looking towards the large windows that will look out onto the yard and lake. Door to the left goes outside.

View from the window area looking back towards the staircase and lower level bedroom.

Picture of the lower level bedroom, with sliding glass doors in place. Window in wall was a recent decision (not on original plan) that allows much more light into room!

One side of the house now has its logs on! Looks great with the stacked stone, in creams and light browns, underneath.

This side of the house holds the windows to the guest master and guest bath (on the main level) and one of the bedrooms (to the left, back of the house) and shared bathroom (on the upper level.)

View of the dining room with most of the stonework completed.

View of the deck and large windows on the back of the house. The small section of railing along the deck on the far right will be removed, and stairs will decend to a landing, turn to the left, and then descend to the patio.

Closeup view of the master bedroom and lower level bedroom in the back. Screened porch is coming along. Sliding glass doors to outside small landing. which will have steps down to patio, are in place. Stone work on this section of the house is not really started yet.

View of the stone bases to columns holding up screend porch, and beginning construction of small porch off lower bedroom sliding glass doors.

View looking up at center of the house, from the back.

The back of the house several yards from the construction area. The mound of dirt will be moved, allowing the ground to slope down to the left of the pictured and towards the lake.

A straight-on back view of the house. Stonework around base of right side, under house and dining room, is finished.

Another view of back of house.

View of back of house farther away, closer to the lake. Will be practically invisible from the lake when the trees are full in spring and summer.

Lakehouse on Oct. 13, 2007

View from below the construction line towards the lake. Note the tree scened is thinning as leaves are beginning to fall. A very dry and hot summer and fall has kept leaves from turning even into the middle of October.

View of the lake from the property line. Note the stone "shelf" at the bottom of the picture. This is where the waters are receding as the volume of the lake is deliberately lowered during the winter months. You can see where the homeowners have all pulled their docks out of the water onto the shore. Our builder told us that the Deep Creek area usually has its first snowfall around the middle of October.

Looking "down" the lake into one of the coves. Most boats are out of the water now; we saw only two out, one with fishermen, one towing a dock, while we were here. Note how far the water line has dropped.

The view "up" the lake to the left (towards the main lake). Just the faintest touch of color in the tops of the trees.
