August 30, 2008

We have not posted pictures of the lakehouse for awhile. We've been doing alot, but mostly "behind the scenes" stuff and outdoor work that doesn't lend itself well to pictures. Here are some from our most recent visit, when we added some "decor" to the Great Room and Kitchen areas.

A view of the "living area" of the Great Room, with the new mission style tables in place and with lamps and pieces of decor on them. The table were "made" by Kathy and Dennis...sanded, stained, and assembled from kits ordered on the Internet. If you can see the small dark "spot" up on the center right window ledge, you've spotted our wonderful carved owl standing tall on his "perch."

The small "entry" mission table in place outside the door to the Master Bedroom, a great place for some accent pieces and a visitors' journal...there are already several enthusiastic entries!

One of the two new side tables. These small table lamps were bought over a year ago,
when we spotted them while browsing and knew they would match
the stacked stone fireplace perfectly.

The mission sofa table, holding a basket of large pinecones, Matt's "new" boat,
and the Ipod stereo player beneath.

The other side table, with a stack of National Geographic published nature books beneath
(more books are under the other tables.)

The gathering area in front of the fireplace,
with the new mission coffee table, wavy rug, and couches.

The wall mounted metal and wood leaf sculptures in place on the short wall
between the kitchen bar and the family room doors to the outside deck.

A look at "Griz", the black buckets of large pinecones, the leather basket
(a housewarming gift), and the candles above the fire place.

These copper and metal leaf print placques were spotted during a quick stop on our way up this trip,
and look great in the area above the cooktop. Eventually we plan to tile in this area,
but for now, these are perfect.

A copper and metal curling leaf wall sculpture fits wonderfully above the sink area,
and adds a touch of movement and whimsey to the basically straight-edge cabinetry.

Popi and Dennis in the garage cutting additional shelves for the kitchen cabinets,
two days after Popi's 90th birthday!
